Friendship

We are pleased to welcome our first guest bloggers, Ms. Cappadocia's Grade 6 class at Hewitt's Creek!

Today we used this picture to prompt some thinking about Ellie and Brianna’s friendship. What do you think Ellie should do about her relationship with Brianna?

We all agree that Ellie is feeling badly about her friendship with Brianna. However, we have some differences of opinion in how Ellie should deal with how she is feeling.

Student Responses:
I think that Ellie should move on and try to make new friends at school. Brianna is always occupied with volleyball. With Ellie’s grandpa turning into a teenager they don’t have time to get together and hang out anymore. Also, there is a whole school of people that Ellie probably doesn’t know yet. Brianna and Ellie are still friends but not the friends they were before Brianna got into volleyball. I think Ellie should move on and find new friends but still have Brianna as a friend also.

I think Ellie should go watch some of Brianna’s volleyball games so they have more to talk about. In the text it said, “She’s busy every second now with clinics and practices and weekend tournaments.” I think that going and cheering on Brianna would help because then they could so something afterwards and then at lunch they could talk about the tournament together.

  1. Mikaella - At the end of school she should try to talk to Brianna before she goes home. They could make it a habit to talk after school.
Violet - They can plan play dates.
Roz - After school Ellie should try to hang out with Brianna because there will be no volleyball. (On summer break)
Chae - Next time she sees Brianna she should tell her that they should play a sleepover.
Jaz - I think if Brianna wanted to hang out with Ellie she would have made the time on her lunch break. Ellie seems to making friends Raj.
Natalie - I think Ellie should move on. She should focus on the future and think about getting new friends.

    Thanks for the question.
